We have had his funeral, and are trying to get back on with our lives.
It is hard as little things happen, and remind me of things we did or talked about.
The other day, I saw a man with a bald head. - Straight away I thought of dad and how he had gone through chemotherapy, lost all his hair, and had regrown his hair to a full thatch again.
Lynda's operation was delayed at the end of last year, and has finally had the op last week.
There was a complication however, which required Lynda to stay in hospital longer than we had hoped for. Now she is back home and working on getting her knee to work properly. She has to go to the Physio on Monday.
There will not be any classes 24th November - 27 th November
Lynda (my long suffering wife) is finally going to have her surgery on her knees. She goes into hospital on Monday 24th and will be in there for 4-7 days.
So on Monday I will be taking her in and staying with her as much as possible. Then the rest of the week, will be visiting her after work each day.
Lynda is apprehensive as one would expect, but is also hoping for a good result. Only one knee is being done at this time, but Lynda wants to get back into linedancing again.
It will be great to see her enjoying this wonderful activity again
Members of our club have lost loved ones recently. Our wishes and condolences go to Barbara, Natasha and Maria who have all suffered the loss of someone close to them.
From our point of view, the news is mixed. Our dog Casey had a growth on his back leg, which we had removed. The results came back and although it was cancer it was the best type to have for him. The surgery removed it and he should be as good as new again.
However, further scans on my dad's tumor, proved that it was too close to the aorta and his windpipe for surgery, so he will be undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment for it.
He is still lively and hopeful. He has been on to his favourite forum and found a person in England who has been through the same . He has had the treatment described to him and although it is bad, this other person has recovered. That news has given heart to dad.
I hope you all have better news and have have wonderful lives
Here it is in mid July and I haven't posted for a while
I have been very busy in my normal job during the week, and I have been teaching three nights a week Monday nights at Otahuhu Bootscooters, Tuesday I have been teaching linedancing at night school in Mt Roskill. And on Thursday I have been teaching my beginners at the Otahuhu Railway Bowling Club.
Lynda's knees have become a lot worse and hopes to have proper treatment soon ( she has just changed her specialist who made Lynda believe that he was a sadist.)
On top of that, my father was on holiday in Australia, when he had a small accident, fell and hurt his shoulder. He went to the local A&E to get it treated. The doctors there thought he had also cracked a rib. The X-rays showed he had, but on the other side, they spotted a lump on his right lung. More test have followed, confirming that he has Lung Cancer. He is now back in New Zealand, where he will be operated on in Waikato Hospital.
However for Lynda and myself, it is a reminder of what happened last year (Lynda's sister, my sister-in-law, Ann died of lung cancer in May 2007)
We are hoping and praying for the best. And also for the friend who is also battling away.
We pray and wish the both of you have quick, speedy recoveries.
All the best to all who read this and thanks to everyone who has passed on their sympathies
Monday I taught the class, "Crazy Foot Mambo", which they enjoyed. Also I revised an older dance that had been done at the GWCC social - "Go Go Stomp".
Tuesday night, I had to take Lynda to the hospital, as her knees had seized up, and she had trouble just walking short distances. We got there at 6.30 pm and did not get home until 3.30am the next morning.
Wednesday, Lynda could not work, but I had to. Then that evening, my parents and sister had come up from Mangakino for the night, so we had to go out for a meal with them.
Thursday night, I had to teach at my new beginners class in Awa St, Otahuhu.
So I was only able to catch up on my sleep on Friday night.
I plan to teach Jeanette Tisch's dance to my Monday class this week, so should be good
Well the class enjoyed "Zjozzy's Funk" last week hen I taught it. And when the social played the music they were on the floor with me, giving it all to the dance. Exhausting!
We were asked to show my dance to this crowd, and Jeannette was there to demonstrate her dance as well. Both dances received a good response. I like both, and I am planning to teach Jeannette's in a couple of weeks.
However on Monday I will be teaching "Crazy Foot Mambo" which should be a lot of fun. The music just makes you want to get up and dance.
Well another Choreography competition is over. I want to congratulate Jeannette Tisch for winning the event with her dance "Don't Think Twice". We had a lot of fun that day and it was good that my parents and friends of theirs came up from Mangakino to see the competition. After the competition I was told that my dance finished in 5th place - not too bad. I want to thank the whole demo team that helped show off the dance (there was 14 of us doing the dance). I will name them for you. They were in alphabetical order:- Barbara, Barbara B, Daphne, Don, Dot, Eileen, Jeannette, Jenny, Josie, Leslie, Michelle, Rose, Thelma and myself. Some of these were also in other demonstrations, and some were in their first demo. I also want to make special mention of Lynda (my wife) for the magnificent shirt that she took the time to create for me. Boy!, I am lucky to have such a wonderful wife
Planning to teach "Zjozzy's Funk" to the class tomorrow night. Have to figure out what else to teach from this competition. Catch you later
